RSS (short for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary) is a technology that allows you to keep track of your favorite websites and blogs in an efficient way.
So instead of you going out to all the different websites to check if there is new information like in the good old days, it is the information that comes to you.
With RSS you tell a website to let you know whenever something happens on them. You save time and energy since you don’t have to visit each site separately. You can do this totally anonymously as opposed to subscribing to a newsletter where you have to leave behind your e-mailaddress and sometimes also your name.
The only thing you need is an RSS reader. An RSS reader, also called a feed reader or aggregator, checks your subscribed feeds regularly for new work, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a platform where you can read the feeds (e.g. a summary of an article or a blog post).
There are several RSS readers out there. I use Google Reader since it is free and since I can access the information from every device as long as I have internet access.
In the video below I give a short demonstration of how it works and how you can subscribe to a news feed of a website you are interested in.

Do you think RSS is also something for you? Please let me know what you think of it. I would appreciate if you could leave a (video) reply on Youtube or share this post with your network by using the social media icons below. Thanks a lot!
